Port St. Lucie small businesses with a physical storefront can apply starting Monday for grants of up to $25,000 to improve their buildings, the city announced.

The $2 million program covers facade repairs, new signs, outdoor seating, and accessibility upgrades such as ramps and wider doors. Businesses must have fewer than 50 employees and have operated in the city for at least a year.

“A lot of our older commercial strips have great businesses behind tired fronts. This is about helping people see them.”

Economic development director Sam Whitley

Applications are reviewed in the order received, and the city expects the money to go quickly. Owners can get help with applications at weekly sessions at the city’s business resource center.
