Content consumers

Listening and watching

Radio, podcasts, Theater, news and live broadcasts, on the website and in the app.

Does ShowCast cost anything?

No. Every station, every public episode and the public chat rooms are free, with ads. A free account keeps your favorites and playlists and follows you from the website to the app.

What does a membership add?

Membership is $5 a month. It adds members-only shows and episodes, the members chat room, members-only giveaways in the app, your messages put first for hosts in the public chat rooms, and no ads on shows and episodes. See Membership.

Do I need an account to listen?

No. You can listen and watch without one. You need an account to save favorites, build playlists, chat and enter giveaways. Create one here.

What is ShowCast Theater?

Films and series from independent creators. Some titles are free; others need a ticket for that title, bought on the website.

What are Channel Subscriptions?

A monthly subscription to one creator’s channel, for what they keep for subscribers. It renews until you cancel, and you keep access to the end of the month you paid for.

How do I cancel a membership or subscription?

From your account on the website, at any time. You keep what you paid for until the end of the period already paid. Payments are not refunded for part of a period.

What is my invite link?

Members and creators get a link to share. When somebody joins through it and pays, your wallet is credited $1 for each month they stay paid. Credits are held for 30 days, and you can be paid by PayPal or Cash App once your balance reaches $500. The Terms have the details.

How do I get text alerts?

Turn on Text Messages in the app under Profile, Notification Preferences, after confirming your number. Reply STOP to any text to stop. See Text alerts.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, under Profile, Delete my account. Without the app, ask us through the contact form and we will do it. Cancel any membership first.

Content creators

Putting your show on ShowCast

Podcasts (audio or video), live broadcasts and films.

How do I join as a creator?

Apply through Join Network and tell us what you make. A person reads every application, and nothing is charged before you are approved.

What does the creator plan cost?

$50 a month, once you are approved. It includes membership, your own page on the network, your podcasts with their episodes uploaded and scheduled, films in ShowCast Theater, going live from your phone, and listener numbers for everything you put up.

Do I keep the rights to my content?

Yes. You own what you put on ShowCast. When you join you give ShowCast permission to host, stream and promote it on the network, and you can still put the same content anywhere else. The Terms spell out exactly what that permission covers.

Is my content reviewed before it goes live?

A new creator’s shows and episodes are reviewed by a person before listeners see them. Once ShowCast trusts a creator, they publish straight away. A report against a creator can put their content back on review.

How do I add a film to ShowCast Theater?

In the creator portal, open Theater and choose New film. Films live in Theater, apart from your podcasts, and each one needs a video. Like an episode, a new creator’s film is reviewed before it is listed.

How do I upload and schedule episodes?

In the creator studio, on the website after you log in, or in the app’s Studio tab. Pick a release time and the episode goes out on its own.

Can I go live?

Yes. Once your podcast is cleared for live video, tap Go Live in the app. Your audience can watch and chat while you broadcast. ShowCast does not record your live broadcasts; a replay appears only if you upload one.

How do creators earn?

From Channel Subscriptions, Theater tickets, a share of ad revenue and invite credits, at the rates shown in the creator portal. Each month you get a statement of what you earned.

How do I get paid?

By PayPal or Cash App. Before the first payout, US tax law needs a W-9, which you fill in on the tax form page. Your Social Security number or EIN is encrypted and cannot be read back through the site.

Can someone help run my show?

Yes. Invite a co-creator by email from your podcast. They can work on the show with you, and the invitation expires after 14 days.

How do I customize my page?

Use the page builder in the creator portal. Choose a banner, a theme and which sections show, in your order: your podcasts, newest episodes, favorites, playlists, links and more.

Journalists

Publishing news

Local and independent reporting, with a channel of your own.

How do I start writing for ShowCast News?

Apply through Join Network and say you are a journalist. Once approved you get a news channel with your name, your beat and your stories.

Do journalists need a plan?

Yes. Everyone who puts content on ShowCast, stories included, is on the creator plan, so a journalist has the same page, tools and earnings as any creator.

Are stories reviewed?

The same way episodes are. A new journalist’s stories are read by a person before they go out; a trusted journalist publishes straight away.

Can my stories be listened to?

Yes. Every story has a Listen button. It reads the story in the listener’s own device voice, or plays a recorded AI narration when the story has one. Narration is made with ElevenLabs, and you can use your own ElevenLabs key.

Who owns my stories?

You do, on the same terms as any creator’s content. You are responsible for what you publish, including the photos and quotes in it.

Parents

Younger listeners

What ShowCast does to keep content right for the person using it.

How old do you have to be?

13 or older. Anyone under 18 should agree to the Terms with a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

How is mature content handled?

Shows and episodes carry content ratings. Anything rated above Teen is kept away from accounts under 18, based on the date of birth on the account. Any account can also set its own content-rating limit in the app.

What about chat?

Everyone agrees to the community rules before their first message. ShowCast does not tolerate objectionable content or abuse: moderators hide messages, end live broadcasts and remove accounts, and anyone can report a message or block a person.

Does the app track my child’s location?

No. ShowCast never reads a phone’s location. Zip code and state are optional and typed by the person. The camera and microphone are only used when someone taps to record a chat video or go live.

Will my child get texts or emails?

Texts only go to people who turn them on, about what they chose, and STOP ends them. Email is about the account itself, plus anything they ticked at sign up, which they can change in their profile.

How do I report something?

Use Report on the message, show, episode or person in the app, or write to us through the contact form. A person reads every report.
