For the first time since 2020, the average asking rent on the Treasure Coast went down this year. Not by much: about two percent, to $2,140 a month for a two-bedroom apartment.

For renters who have watched their leases climb year after year, the dip offers little relief. Average rents are still 41 percent higher than they were five years ago, while wages in the region have grown by about 22 percent.
